Wessuc Inc. operates from a location on Colborne Street East in Brantford, and holds a valid certificate of approval for a waste management system to transport biosolids.
On June 14, 2016, Wessuc Inc. was transporting a load of liquid waste containing sugar wash water from a client's location to a bio-digester site in Oxford County, using a piece of equipment that was not registered on the ministry approval.
During transportation, approximately 3000 litres of waste was spilled onto a gravel road and into a roadside ditch on Line 35 between Road 92 and Road 88 in Oxford County.
An officer identified that the trailer was not included in the company's fleet information, contrary to the requirements of the certificate of approval.
The ministry's Investigations and Enforcement Branch investigated and laid charges resulting in one conviction.
