Ontario Ministries Have Summer Jobs For Students

Provincial programs across several ministries offer students employment opportunities in every sector this summer.


Summer Jobs Service

This free job search and self-marketing service helps students find summer jobs.  Employers are offered a $2-per-hour hiring incentive to provide summer jobs for up to 16 weeks.

Summer Company

For students who want to start up and run their own summer business, this service offers hands-on business coaching and mentoring, as well as awards of up to $3,000.

Summer Experience Program

Summer jobs in the Ontario Public Service for six to eight weeks are available to students.
Visit www.ontario.ca/careers, select "Youth and New Professionals," then "Summer Employment Opportunities" where specific positions are listed.

Ontario Government Regular Summer Student Hiring

Students may submit a general application to individual government agencies for student jobs that are six to 16 weeks in duration.  Send a resume and covering letter to the human resources branch of the ministries that interest you.  Addresses are listed at www.infogo.gov.on.ca.

Ontario Ranger

The Ministry of Natural Resources hires students born in 1992 to work for eight weeks out of remote camp locations on outdoors jobs such as hiking trails maintenance and biodiversity projects.  Applications and references forms are online at www.ontario.ca/mnryouthprograms, from school guidance offices, or your local Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP).

Summer Jobs For Youth

Youth living in targeted high-needs neighbourhoods may be eligible for job training, paid job placements and support after the job ends, for eight weeks.  Visit www.ontario.ca/youthconnect.
