Ontario Celebrates Grand Opening of New Sheridan College Facility
Hazel McCallion Campus Expansion to Accommodate 3,200 More Students in Mississauga
The province is celebrating the grand opening of the Sheridan College Hazel McCallion campus, which will provide high-quality postsecondary education to 3,200 more students in Ontario.
Deb Matthews, Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Development, was joined by Charles Sousa, Minister of Finance and MPP for Mississauga South, and Dipika Damerla, Minister of Seniors Affairs and MPP for Mississauga East-Cooksville, as well as other dignitaries to officially open the new facility in Mississauga.
The new 220,000 square foot building features 29 state-of-the-art classrooms, 28 studios, labs and production spaces where students will experience hands-on learning. Its design is sustainable, energy efficient and is built to LEED silver standards.

- Ontario invested $67.7 million in the Sheridan College expansion of the Hazel McCallion Campus in Mississauga.
- Ontario’s investment completes the second phase of the Sheridan College Hazel McCallion Campus, which increases the number of full-time students by 3,200 to a total of 5,600 at this location.
- Since 2013, the Ontario government has invested more than $785 million in capital funding at Ontario colleges and universities.
- Research shows that every $100 million of public infrastructure investment in Ontario boosts the gross domestic product by $114 million, particularly in the construction and manufacturing sectors.
