Attorney General Bryant Hears Local Views On Cornwall Public Inquiry

Ministry of the Attorney General

CORNWALL -- Attorney General Michael Bryant took part in a roundtable today to listen to local views on a public inquiry into the events related to sexual abuse allegations in Cornwall, including terms of reference, and to discuss the purpose and scope of public inquiries generally.

"I am pleased to have arranged for Attorney General Bryant to come to our community today. These first steps will soon mean a public inquiry for the people of Cornwall," said Jim Brownell, MPP for Stormont-Dundas-Charlottenburgh.

"I came to listen and to gather input in advance of establishing the inquiry and preparing terms of reference," said Bryant. "The roundtable organized by Jim Brownell was very constructive and I was impressed with the viewpoints that were put forward."

The next step is writing the terms of reference and appointing an individual to head the inquiry. The public inquiry will be formally announced as soon as possible.
