Class Action Settlement For Caledonia Community

Agreement Reached For Local Residents And Business Owners

Ministry of the Attorney General

Ontario has reached a settlement in the KRP Class Action lawsuit, in relation to the protest at the former Douglas Creek Estates development in Caledonia. The settlement provides compensation for the losses experienced by Caledonia businesses and residents during the protest.

A total of $20M will be distributed among the class members, who are residents or business owners in the community, who suffered direct losses as a result of the protest. The plaintiffs developed a process to determine how the settlement will be distributed to members based on losses experienced.

“It is our hope that today's settlement will help residents move forward. We will continue to work with members of the Caledonia community and First Nations to address their concerns as we move forward.”
