New Judge Appointed to the Ontario Court of Justice

Ontario has appointed a new judge to the Ontario Court of Justice, effective December 30, 2015.

Justice Robert Edward Gattrell was called to the bar in 1989. For 15 years, he worked as a fully bilingual Assistant Crown Attorney in Simcoe County, prosecuting a wide range of criminal cases. Since 2004, Justice Gattrell has worked as a Crown Counsel in the Crown Law Office - Criminal, where he most recently held the position of Deputy Director and acting Chief Counsel in charge of the Justice Prosecutions unit. His community service includes serving on the Board of Directors for the Simcoe Learning Place, as well as serving as committee chair of the 7th Barrie Cubs and Scouts and as a committee member of Collier Street United Church.

Chief Justice Lise Maisonneuve has assigned Justice Gattrell to preside in Barrie.
