New Judge Appointed to the Ontario Court of Justice

Ontario has appointed a new judge to the Ontario Court of Justice, effective May 17, 2017.

Justice Chantal Marguerite Brochu was called to the bar in 2001. A partner at Buset and Partners LLP over the past 16 years, Justice Brochu has practiced in a number of areas, specializing in civil litigation, specifically defence litigation in the field of insurance law.  

Justice Brochu is fluent in both English and French and has acted as a Crown agent for the Ministry of Transportation, the Town of Fort Frances, and the cities of Dryden and Kenora.

An active member of Thunder Bay's francophone community, Justice Brochu has served on a number of boards and committees, most recently serving as the Northern Ontario representative on the l'Association des juristes d'expression française de l'Ontario (AJEFO) Board of Directors.

Chief Justice Lise Maisonneuve has assigned Justice Brochu to preside in Thunder Bay.
