New Judge Appointed to the Ontario Court of Justice

Ontario has appointed a new judge to the Ontario Court of Justice, effective May 31, 2017.

Justice Anastasia (Stacey) Marie Nichols was called to the bar in 2002. For the past 15 years, she has worked with the law firm of Neuberger and Partners in Toronto, specializing in criminal law. Prior to this position, she worked as an assistant Crown attorney in Peel region. Justice Nichols has made numerous appearances before the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice and Ontario Review Board as defence counsel. She is currently working to obtain a graduate degree in law at Osgoode Hall Law School.

Justice Nichols is a member of the Criminal Lawyers' Association, where she has mentored new lawyers practicing criminal law and talked to high school students about the legal profession as a career choice. Additionally, Justice Nichols is an active community volunteer and has assisted with numerous fundraising events.

Chief Justice Lise Maisonneuve has assigned Justice Nichols to preside in Orillia.
