New Regional Senior Judge Appointed to the Ontario Court Of Justice

Ontario has appointed a new regional senior judge to the Ontario Court of Justice.

Justice Esther Rosenberg has been appointed regional senior judge for the Central East Region, effective June 1, 2018 . She will be replacing Regional Senior Justice Simon Armstrong.

Justice Rosenberg was a member of the Justices of the Peace Review Council. Prior to her appointment to the bench in 2010, Justice Rosenberg was a partner at Rosenberg, Pringle, focusing her practice on criminal trial litigation. She also previously served as director of the Criminal Lawyers' Association.

A regional senior judge of the Ontario Court of Justice exercises the powers and performs the duties of the Chief Justice in his or her region, subject to the authority of the Chief Justice. This includes scheduling court hearings and assigning cases to individual judges.
