Executive Chair Appointed to Lead Tribunals Ontario
The Honourable Caroline Mulroney, Attorney General for Ontario, has announced the appointment of an Executive Chair to lead Tribunals Ontario, effective January 1, 2019.
Tribunals Ontario will be responsible for the 19 tribunals that currently fall under the ministry's three tribunal clusters. The new cluster will combine Social Justice Tribunals Ontario, Environment and Land Tribunals Ontario and Safety, Licensing Appeals and Standards Tribunals Ontario.
Linda Lamoureux has been appointed for a one-year term as the Executive Chair of Tribunals Ontario. Ms. Lamoureux is a lawyer and a graduate of Queen's University and the University of Windsor. An experienced senior leader, she has extensive experience in the areas of administrative justice, legal and regulatory compliance, change management, ethics and governance. Since 2014, Ms. Lamoureux has served as Executive Chair of Safety, Licensing Appeals and Standards Tribunals Ontario.
The change will help improve front-line service delivery to the thousands of people who access the tribunals each year.
Tribunals conduct hearings, make decisions and resolve disputes on a wide variety of issues and operate independently of government. These changes are part of the government's plan to review tribunals accountable to the Ministry of the Attorney General to ensure programs are effective, affordable and sustainable.
