New Regional Senior Justice of the Peace Appointed to the Ontario Court of Justice

The Honourable Caroline Mulroney, Attorney General for Ontario, has announced the appointment of a new regional senior justice of the peace to the Ontario Court of Justice.

Justice of the Peace Martha De Gannes has been appointed regional senior justice of the peace for the Central East region, effective March 1, 2019.  Her Worship was appointed as a justice of the peace in Newmarket in 2007 and later served as the Local Administrative Justice of the Peace in Oshawa.

Justice of the Peace De Gannes is engaged with numerous justice committees and working groups, and has volunteered for a number of community initiatives including the Durham Paralegal Mock Trial Competition and has spoken at Black History Month events.  She will replace Regional Senior Justice of the Peace Brian Norton.

A regional senior justice of the peace advises and assists the associate chief justice/coordinator of justices of the peace and the regional senior judge in all matters pertaining to justices of the peace.
