China Mission Announcements and Signings
Over the course of the 11-day business mission to China, Deputy Premier Matthews and Minister Chan witnessed the signing of new business and collaboration agreements:
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs signed Ontario's first memorandum of understanding with China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Corporation (COFCO). The agreement will develop collaborative relationships in research and development and technological innovation that may lead to new trade and investment opportunities to benefit both jurisdictions.
Ontario renewed a friendship agreement with Henan Province that was first signed in 2010. The agreement will encourage economic cooperation and trade between the two provinces, as well as advance their exchanges in the fields of education, tourism and culture.
COFCO Wines & Spirits Co. Ltd. signed a 10-year agreement with Joseph's Estate Wines valued at $5 million that will bring more Ontario ice wine to China to help meet the growing demand for this signature product.
Wing On New Group Canada Inc. and Americo International Commodity E-Commerce Warehouse signed a two-year agreement valued at $30 million to purchase Ontario food products and household goods to supply Chinese consumers' desire and appreciation for quality Ontario goods.
Tianjin Bridge Group and Goubuli Restaurant signed an initial $5 million agreement to establish the first of six restaurants in Canada. Ontario's diversity and large Chinese population made it a natural choice for Goubuli Restaurant to choose Ontario as the beginning of their North American expansion plans.
Enerhancer Motor Group Ltd. of Ontario signed a Strategic Cooperation Partnership Agreement with the Liaoyuan Municipal Government as well as Hebei Provincial Clean Energy Investment Company Ltd. to commercialize its Combustion Enhancement with Water Technology. The commercialization of this technology will provide a power source that produces reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
Menergy Corporation of Ontario signed an agreement with Taichu Capital Inc., Hunan Zhongchengguotai Technology & Trading Corp. Ltd., Jiangsu New Century Investment and Development Group Ltd. and Beijing Yu He Chen Investment Co., Ltd to establish a Green Energy Innovation Centre in the Greater Toronto Area. This $100 million investment in Ontario will help to showcase green energy solutions, act as an incubator for green energy companies and create market access for Canadian products in China.
HS Nouvel Developments Inc. of Ontario signed an agreement with Whanhong Chung Group to advance an $80 million commercial development in York Region that includes: a hotel, a convention centre/banquet hall, financial institutions, restaurants, offices, commercial schools, personal service shops, medical offices and clinics.
