Modern OPP Facility For Essex County Detachment

Ministry of the Solicitor General

Many existing Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) facilities are beyond their useful life (40-50 years) and were not designed to meet the demands of modern policing.

The modernized 13,600-square-foot Essex County OPP detachment building includes:

  • upgrades to the six bay garage
  • a secure compound to house a boat, ATVs and seized vehicles
  • secure evidence vaults
  • interview rooms
  • a multi-purpose boardroom with public access for community meetings
  • modern communications infrastructure
  • a cell block area consisting of four cells
  • a secure prisoner transfer area allowing for direct access to holding cells and prisoner processing area
