Inquest Into The Death Of Glenn Bocskei Announced

HAMILTON -- Dr. Jack Stanborough, Regional Supervising Coroner for West Region, Hamilton Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Glenn Bocskei.

Mr. Bocskei, age 58, died on June 20, 2007, while in custody at the Niagara Detention Centre in Thorold. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act. 

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Bocskei's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. 

The inquest is expected to last five days and to hear from approximately 17 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 2010, at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse, 59 Church Street, 4th Floor, Courtroom #8, St. Catharines. Dr. Darryl Wolski will preside as inquest coroner and
Ms. Karen Shea will be counsel to the coroner.
