Inquest Date Into The Death Of Halit Mutlu Announced

Toronto -- Dr. David Eden, Acting Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Toronto West, today announced that a date has been set for the inquest into the death of Halit Mutlu.

Mr. Mutlu, aged 42 years, died on March 12, 2010, from injuries received during the course of his employment at a construction site in Toronto.  An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act. 

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Mutlu's death.  The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. 

The inquest is expected to last three days and to hear from approximately 10 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, December 10, 2012, at the Coroners Courts, 15 Grosvenor St., Toronto.  Dr. Bonnie Burke will preside as inquest coroner and Mr. Jason Balgopal will be counsel to the coroner.
