Inquest Into The Death Of Mario Hamel Announced

London -- Dr. Rick Mann, Regional Supervising Coroner for West Region, London Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Mario Hamel.

Mr. Hamel, aged 55, died on November 25, 2010 at the London Police Station following his arrest by the London Police Service.  An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act. 

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr Hamel's death.  The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. 

The inquest is expected to last 5 days and to hear from approximately 11 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Best Western Stoneridge Inn, 6675 Burtwistle Lane, London.  Dr. Elizabeth Urbantke will preside as inquest coroner and Mr. Joseph Perfetto will be counsel to the coroner.
