Dates Announced for Pre-Inquest Standing Hearing and Inquest into the Death of Jeffery Baldwin

Toronto -- Dr. Dan Cass, Deputy Chief Coroner for Investigations today announced that a date has been set for the inquest into the death of Jeffery Baldwin.

Jeffery, age 5, died on November 30, 2002, at the Hospital for Sick Children following an ambulance transfer from his residence. 

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Jeffery's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last three months and to hear from approximately 35 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2013, at 180 Dundas St. West, Room 2010, 20th floor, Toronto. Dr. Peter Clark will preside as inquest coroner and Jill Witkin will be counsel to the coroner.

A pre-inquest hearing to hear applications for standing at the inquest will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at the Coroners Courts, 15 Grosvenor Street, Courtroom B, Toronto. Parties who wish to apply for standing may contact Jill Witkin at 416-327-5990 or jill.witkin@ontario.ca.
