Inquest into the Death of Edwin Davis Announced

Toronto -- Dr. Roger Skinner, interim Deputy Chief Coroner for Investigations, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Edwin Davis.

Mr. Davis, age 74, died on Feb. 5, 2011, as a result of injuries received during the course of his employment in the Kenora region. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act. 

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Davis's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last four days and to hear from approximately six witnesses.

The inquest will begin 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the Dryden Government Building, Board Room B5, 479 Government Rd., Dryden. Dr. Michael Wilson will preside as inquest coroner and Elizabeth Hellinga will be counsel to the coroner.
