Inquest into the Death of Gerald Su Go Postponed

Dr. James Edwards, Regional Supervising Coroner for the Central Region, Toronto East office, today announced that the inquest into the death of Gerald Su Go has been postponed until Jan. 20, 2014.

Mr. Go, age 53, died on May 14, 2010, while an inmate at the Toronto East Detention Centre.  An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act. 

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Go's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. 

The inquest is expected to last three days and to hear from approximately 10 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at the Coroners Courts, 15 Grosvenor St., Toronto. Dr. David Eden will preside as inquest coroner and Rita Koehl will be counsel to the coroner.
