Details Announced for Inquest into the Death of Mark Andrew Essery

Dr. David Evans, Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Brampton Office, today announced details for the inquest into the death of Mark Andrew Essery.

Mr. Essery, age 56, died on July 26, 2012, while in the custody of York Regional Police. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Essery's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last 11 days and to hear from approximately 15 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at the Provincial Offences Court House, Courtroom B6, 5 Ray Lawson Blvd., Brampton. Dr. Robert Boyko will preside as inquest coroner and Frank Giordano will be counsel to the coroner.
