Inquest Announced into the Death of Keith Prescod

Dr. James Edwards, Regional Supervising Coroner for the Central Region, Toronto East Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Keith Prescod.

Mr. Prescod, age 53, died on July 24, 2011, at William Osler Health System - Etobicoke Campus following detainment by Peel Regional Police Service. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act. 

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Prescod's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. 

The inquest is expected to last five days and to hear from approximately 12 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, and will now be held at the Forensic Services and Coroner's Complex, 25 Morton Shulman Ave., Toronto. Bonnie Burke will preside as inquest coroner and Ms. Lorraine Cavion will be counsel to the coroner.
