Inquest into the Death of Gerald Belanger Announced

Dr. Craig Muir, Acting Regional Supervising Coroner for the East Region, Kingston Office, today announced that an inquest will be held in the death of Gerald Belanger.

Mr. Belanger, age 64, died on March 18, 2011, from injuries received during the course of his employment at a construction site in Belleville. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.  

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Belanger's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last one day and to hear from 12 witnesses. 

The inquest will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at the Quinte Court House, 15 Bridge St. W., Court Room 201, Belleville. Dr. Donald Cooke will preside as inquest coroner and Pardeep Bhachu will be counsel to the coroner.
