Inquest into the Death of Mladen Mesic Announced

Dr. William J. Lucas, Deputy Chief Coroner for Inquests, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Mladen Mesic.

Mr. Mesic, age 45, died on June 7, 2013, following interaction with officers of the Hamilton Police Service. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act. 

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Mesic's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. 

Dr. Jack Stanborough will preside as inquest coroner and Graeme Leach will be counsel to the coroner. 

The coroner's investigation is ongoing. Details regarding the time and location of the inquest will be announced when that information becomes available.
