Inquest into the Death of Zlatko Sego Announced

Dr. James Edwards, Regional Supervising Coroner for the Central Region, Toronto East Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Zlatko Sego.

Mr. Sego, age 39, died on April 19, 2012, while in custody at the Toronto Jail. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Sego's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last five days and to hear from approximately 10 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2014, at the Forensic Services and Coroner's Complex, 25 Morton Shulman Ave., Toronto. Dr. Joel Ross will preside as inquest coroner and Lisa Jacek will be counsel to the coroner.
