Inquest into the Death of Allen Scott Hofstetter Announced

Dr. Jack Stanborough, Regional Supervising Coroner for the West Region, Hamilton Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Allen Scott Hofstetter.

Mr. Hofstetter, age 44, died on Feb. 9, 2011, after he was struck by a vehicle while working at a construction site. This inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Hofstetter's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last three days and to hear from approximately six witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at the Kitchener Courthouse, 85 Frederick St. Dr. John Ewen will preside as inquest coroner and Cynthia Jennison will be counsel to the coroner.
