Inquest into the Death of Matthew Roke Announced

Dr. Louise McNaughton-Filion, Regional Supervising Coroner for East Region, Ottawa Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Matthew Roke.

Mr. Roke, age 33, died on May 2, 2012, following an encounter with Ontario Provincial Police. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act. 

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Roke's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

Details regarding the date, location and presiding coroner will be announced when the information becomes available.
