Details Announced for the Inquest into the Death of Douglas Minty

Dr. Dan Cass, Deputy Chief Coroner for Investigations, today announced that a date has been set for the inquest into the death of Douglas Minty.

Mr. Minty, aged 59, died on June 22, 2009, following an incident with Ontario Provincial Police. The incident occurred in Elmvale. 

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Minty's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last four weeks and to hear from approximately 20 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at the Simcoe County Council Chambers, 1110 Hwy. 26,  Midhurst. Dr. William J. Lucas will preside as inquest coroner and Tom Fitzgerald will be counsel to the coroner.
