Inquest into the Death of David Fernandez Announced

Dr. James Edwards, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Toronto East Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of David Fernandez. 

Mr. Fernandez, age 27, died on Feb. 14, 2011, while employed at a construction site in Toronto. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act. 

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Fernandez's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. 

The inquest is expected to last one week and to hear from approximately 10 witnesses.

The inquest will commence at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, at Coroners Courts, Forensic Sciences and Coroner's Complex, 25 Morton Shulman Ave., Toronto. Dr. Robert Boyko will be the presiding coroner and Oslyn Braithwaite will be counsel to the coroner.
