Inquest Date Announced for the Inquest into the Death of Robert Clause

Dr. William J Lucas, Interim Deputy Chief Coroner, today announced that a date has been scheduled for the inquest into the death of Robert Clause.

Mr. Clause, age 33, died on March 4, 2011, while in custody at the Brantford Jail. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act. 

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Clause's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. 

The inquest is expected to last two weeks and to hear from approximately 27 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, at the Superior Court of Justice, 70 Wellington St., Brantford. Dr. Jack Stanborough will preside as inquest coroner and Erica Quayle will be counsel to the coroner.
