Inquest Into the Death of Guy Mitchell Announced

Dr. David Eden, Regional Supervising Coroner for Inquests, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Guy Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell, aged 38, died on April 29, 2012. He had been living in a group home and was found face down in a well, where he drowned.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Mitchell's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. 

The inquest is expected to last 10 days and to hear from approximately 20 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015, at the John Sopinka Courthouse, 45 Main St. East, Hamilton.  Dr. Jack Stanborough will preside as inquest coroner and Ms. Karen Shea will be counsel to the coroner.
