Inquest into the Death of Emilio Piccinnin Announced

Dr. James Edwards, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Toronto East Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Emilio Piccinnin.

Mr. Piccinnin, aged 61, died in Toronto on May 12, 2008, of injuries sustained on a construction site. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Piccinnin's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last five days and to hear from approximately 15 witnesses.

The inquest will commence at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 16, 2015, at the Forensic Services and Coroners Complex, Courtroom B, 25 Morton Shulman Ave., Toronto. Dr. Joel Ross will preside as inquest coroner and Fred Bartley will be counsel to the coroner.
