Inquest into the Death of Onil Arcia Announced

Dr. William J. Lucas, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Central West Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Onil Arcia.

Mr. Arcia, age 23, died on September 30, 2011, during the course of his employment at a construction site in Peel Region. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Arcia's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last three days and to hear from approximately eight witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, at the Provincial Offences Courthouse, 5 Ray Lawson Blvd., 2nd Floor, Brampton. Dr. James Kovacs will preside as inquest coroner and Carson Coughlin will be counsel to the coroner.
