Inquest into the Death of Zoltan Hyacinth Announced

Dr. Roger Skinner, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Toronto West Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Zoltan Hyacinth.

Mr. Hyacinth, age 23, died on March 17, 2013, during an altercation with Toronto Police Service. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Hyacinth's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last two weeks and to hear from approximately 20 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, at the Forensic Services and Coroners Complex, Court Room B, 25 Morton Shulman Ave., Toronto. Dr. John Carlisle will preside as inquest coroner and Michael Blain will serve as coroner's counsel.
