Inquest into the Deaths of Joseph Allan Kiss and Adam Kenneth Reed Announced

Dr. David Cameron, Regional Supervising Coroner for North Region, Sudbury Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the deaths of Joseph Allan Kiss and Adam Kenneth Reed.

Mr. Kiss, aged 25, died on March 26, 2013 and Mr. Reed, aged 30, died on November 7, 2012, while in custody at the North Bay City Jail. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Kiss' and Mr. Reed's deaths. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last three days and to hear from approximately 12 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, at the North Bay Courthouse, 360 Plouffe St. Dr. Steven Bodley will preside as inquest coroner and Paul Larsh will be counsel to the coroner.
