Inquest into the Death of Farshad Badakhshan Announced

Dr. Roger Skinner, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Toronto West Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Farshad Badakhshan.

Mr. Badakhshan, 31, died on May 22, 2014, while he was an inmate at the Toronto West Detention Centre. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Badakhshan's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. 

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at the Forensic Services and Coroners Complex, Courtroom B, 25 Morton Shulman Ave., Toronto. Dr. Robert Boyko will preside as inquest coroner and Patrick Traverse will serve as coroner's counsel.
