Inquest into the Death of Rene Miron Announced

Dr. Paul Dungey, Regional Supervising Coroner for East Region, Kingston Office, today announced that an inquest will be held in the death of Rene Miron.

Mr. Miron, 65, died on Dec. 15, 2012 at the Kingston General Hospital following a transfer from the Kingston Penitentiary. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Miron's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last two days and to hear from eight witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015, at the Napanee Superior Court, 97 Thomas St.  Dr. Daniel Dufour will preside as inquest coroner and Janet O'Brien will be counsel to the coroner.
