Inquest into the Death of Sean Parsons Announced

Dr. Paul Dungey, Regional Supervising Coroner for East Region, Kingston Office, today announced that an inquest will be held in the death of Sean Parsons.

Mr. Parsons, 40, died on Dec. 12, 2010, while in custody at the Joyceville Correctional Institution.  An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Parsons' death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last two days and to hear from six witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, at the Napanee Superior Court, 97 Thomas St.  Dr. Reuven Jhirad will preside as inquest coroner and Jennifer Ferguson will be counsel to the coroner.
