Inquest into the Death of Eric Osawe Postponed

Dr. James Edwards, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Toronto East Office, today announced that the inquest into the death of Eric Osawe, scheduled to begin on January 11, 2016, has been postponed as a result of a request by his family.

Mr. Osawe, 26, died on September 29, 2010 in Toronto of injuries sustained when he was shot by an officer of the Toronto Police Service.  An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

Details regarding a new date for the inquest will be provided as soon as the information becomes available.
