Inquest Date into the Death of Rui Cordeiro Announced

Dr. William J. Lucas, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Central West Office, today announced that a date has been scheduled for the inquest into the death of Rui Cordeiro.

Mr. Cordeiro, 44, died on Oct. 10, 2013, during the course of his employment at a construction site in Peel Region. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Cordeiro's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last five days and to hear from approximately six witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 18, 2016 at the Provincial Offenses Courthouse, 5 Ray Lawson Road, Brampton. Dr. Robert Boyko will preside as inquest coroner and David D'Lorio will be counsel to the coroner.
