Inquest into the Death of Nokolaos Mpelos Announced

Dr. James Edwards, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Toronto East Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Nokolaos Mpelos.

Mr. Mpelos, 65, died on May 26, 2013, while restrained on the premises of a psychiatric facility. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Mpelos' death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. 

Details regarding the date and location will be provided when the information becomes available. Dr. Roger Skinner will preside as inquest coroner.
