Inquest into the Death of Trevor George Seaton Announced
Dr. David Eden, Regional Supervising Coroner for Inquests, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Trevor George Seaton.
Mr. Seaton, 28, died on May 22, 2014, while he was an inmate at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre in Sault Ste. Marie. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Seaton's death. The inquest jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
The inquest is expected to last five days and to hear from approximately 20 witnesses.
The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2016, at the Sault Ste. Marie Courthouse, 426 Queen St. East. Dr. David Cameron will preside as inquest coroner and Mary Pascuzzi will be counsel to the coroner.
