Inquest into the Death of Cody Thompson-Hardy Announced

Dr. David Eden, Regional Supervising Coroner for Inquests, today announced that an inquest will be held in the death of Cody Thompson-Hardy.

Mr. Thompson-Hardy, 18, died on Aug. 19, 2011 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre following a transfer from the Thunder Bay District Jail. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.  

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Thompson-Hardy's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

Details regarding the date and location will be provided when the information becomes available.

Dr. Michael Wilson will preside as inquest coroner and Dan Mitchell will be counsel to the coroner.
