Inquest into the Death of Robert Srigley Announced

Dr. Paul Dungey, Regional Supervising Coroner for East Region, Kingston Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Robert Srigley.

Mr. Srigley, 45, died on July 28, 2013, at Kingston General Hospital of gunshot wounds sustained in an interaction with Ontario Provincial Police in Arden on July 25, 2013. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding the death of Mr. Srigley. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last five days and to hear from approximately nine witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2017, at Soldiers Memorial Hall, 1107 Garrett St., Sharbot Lake. Dr. John Carlisle will preside as inquest coroner and Michael Blain will be counsel to the coroner.
