Inquest into the Death of Antonio Lopes Announced

Dr. Roger Skinner, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Toronto West Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Antonio Lopes.

Mr. Lopes, 58, died on Oct. 19, 2013, while working on a construction site. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Lopes' death.  The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. 

The inquest is expected to last four days and to hear from approximately four witnesses.

The inquest will commence at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at the Forensic Services and Coroners Complex, 25 Morton Shulman Ave., Toronto. Dr. John Carlisle will preside as inquest coroner and Yeshe Laine will be counsel to the coroner.
