Inquest into the Death of David Hagen Announced

Dr. Paul Dungey, Regional Supervising Coroner for East Region, Kingston Office, today announced that an inquest will be held in the death of David Hagen.

Mr. Hagen, 36, died on Sept. 17, 2015 at the Joyceville Institution. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Hagen's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last one day and to hear from seven witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at the Napanee Superior Court, 97 Thomas St. Dr. Gautam Walia will preside as inquest coroner and Jennifer Ferguson will be counsel to the coroner.
