Inquest into the Death of Brian Ernest Redmond Announced

Dr. Louise McNaughton-Filion, Regional Supervising Coroner for East Region, Ottawa Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Brian Ernest Redmond.

Mr. Redmond, 63, died in hospital on April 8, 2015, after transfer from the OPP Lanark Detachment. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding his death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last three days and to hear from approximately 10 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, at the Stewart Park Room, Best Western Plus Perth Parkside Inn, 82 Peter St. Dr. Robert Reddoch will preside as inquest coroner and Patricia Bowles will be counsel to the coroner.
