Inquest into the Death of Richard Foster Announced

Dr. Paul Dungey, Regional Supervising Coroner for East Region, Kingston Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Richard Foster.

Mr. Foster, 63, died on Sept. 3, 2016 at the Collins Bay Institution in Kingston. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding his death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last two days and to hear from seven witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Mar. 1, 2018, at the Napanee Superior Court, 97 Thomas St. Dr. Jennifer Tang will preside as inquest coroner and Janet O'Brien will be counsel to the coroner.
