Inquest into the Death of Walter George Blight Announced

Dr. David Eden, Regional Supervising Coroner for Inquests, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Walter George Blight.

Mr. Blight, 72, died on July 16, 2015, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle collision in Killarney. 

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Blight's death, with focus on issues related to driving safety in the presence of medical and psychiatric illness. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last five days and to hear from approximately 11 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018, at the Radisson Hotel Sudbury, Notre Dame Room, 85 Ste. Anne Rd. Dr. David Cameron will preside as inquest coroner and Prabhu Rajan will be counsel to the coroner.
