Inquest into the Death of Eric Koopman Announced

Dr. Karen Schiff, Regional Supervising Coroner for West Region, Hamilton Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Eric Koopman.

Mr. Koopman, 53, died in hospital on Nov. 21, 2011, as a result of injuries sustained from a workplace accident in St. Catharines.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Koopman's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last four days and to hear from approximately 15 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at the Robert S.K. Welch Court House, 59 Church Street, St. Catharines. Dr. Jennifer Tang will preside as inquest coroner and Stacey Sheehan will be counsel to the coroner.
