Inquest into the Death of James Wyllie Announced

Dr. Karen Schiff, Regional Supervising Coroner for West Region, Hamilton Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of James Wyllie.

Mr. Wyllie, 26, died on Aug. 27, 2015, as a result of injuries sustained while working at a construction site in Guelph. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.  

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Wyllie's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last four days and to hear from approximately seven witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 23, 2018, at the Provincial Offenses Courthouse, Courtroom #2, 59 Carden St., Guelph. Dr. Robert Boyko will preside as inquest coroner and Nicole Stortini will be counsel to the coroner.
